David completed his BA in Economics at Columbia and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan. After serving in the army in Germany, he returned to Michigan where he earned his Ph.D.. He taught economics for four years at the University of British Columbia in Canada and then joined Imperial Oil (Exxon's Canadian affiliate) in Toronto where he eventually became Chief Economist. In the early 1990s he was transferred to Exxon where he worked first as an economist and then as head of the economics group in Exxon USA. He concluded his career at ExxonMobil as an executive speechwriter. His most interesting experience was his work in Alaska on the Exxon Valdez civil litigation. He met his wife Joanne, an opera and classical singer, while a student at Michigan and is now living in retirement in Houston, TX. |
