Bio |
Marty has been married for 43 years, has 2 children and 5 grandchildren. She retired after teaching English in Edina for 34 years, Park Rapids for 1 year and 9 years as a supervisor at Bemidji State University.
They own a little resort north of Park Rapids and also a small farm with a big garden and 8 cows. My friend Kathy Burke refers to me as The Robbinsdale Farmer. My greatest achievements are having former students tell me I influenced them. Edina students selected her as Legendary Edina Teacher in 2001. Raising 2 successful, happy sons ranks right up there, too. Her do-over would have been to not worry her parents by coming home after curfew! Marty was influenced by friends, teachers Leo Dvorak, Mary Lindskog and Robert Young to be inspired to achieve, love of reading and making learning fun.
Her outstanding memory was to be part of a debate team that won first place at the National Forensic Leagues district contest to qualify for nationals. RHS in the early 60s was an exciting place to be. I had many talented, ambitious classmates as friends and role models. Note: I saw Mrs. Lindskog just a couple of years ago. I nominated Dan Wasoe 62 for a Lifetime Achievement Award from Lake conference and she came from Florida for the ceremony. Address is 1085 Hoover Circle, Nokomis, FL 34275
